Ponte de Lima Fernando Pessoa University Unit is authorized to operate pursuant to paragraph 3 of article. 7 of Decree-Law 107/96 of 31 July. It is an entity that enjoys operational autonomy teaching and scientific. As a university teaching center aims and tasks the dissemination of culture framed the principles governing the University.
Unit currently has two distinct areas of training, geared to the business and health sciences.
As part of its activities have been conducted numerous seminars and conferences, with the participation of the educational community, especially the students, who have established a bridge between the University and society, either taking the institution to the community, either by fostering regional development, wants to encourage the community to participate in the educational activity. There are various forms of participation and collaboration with public entities in the region that have shown greater receptivity and commitment at all events.
In structural terms, the Unit has three bodies: the Board, the Scientific Council and the Pedagogical Council, with the powers conferred upon them under regulations. Also, students have their organizational structure, through the Association of Students and are represented in the Pedagogical Council.
